Marcelo Mori
THE BOSS
Graduated in Biological Sciences (Medical Modality) from the Federal University of São Paulo (2002). He acquired a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the Federal University of São Paulo (2007), with an internship at the Max-Delbrück Institute for Molecular Medicine (Berlin, Germany). Postdoctoral fellow at Joslin Diabetes Center/Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA), where he still actively participates in some collaborative projects. He was recently hired by the Department of Biophysics at the Federal University of São Paulo to hold the position of Adjunct Professor and Researcher. He has experience in Molecular Biology with an emphasis on Metabolism, working mainly on the investigation of molecular mechanisms associated with Metabolic Syndrome and the aging process.
Tereza Cristina M. F. Cal
postdoctoral student
Postdoctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Biology of Aging, Institute of Biology - Obesity and Comorbidities Research Center (OCRC) at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) (CEPID - FAPESP). Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (CRBio 098820/04-D) from Centro Universitário Newton Paiva (2013), master's degree (2017) and doctorate (2021) in Sciences with emphasis on Cell Biology and title of Specialist in Cell and/or Molecular Biology (2021) ) by the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Affiliated member of the Liver Center at UFMG. She has experience in the field of clinical and experimental immunology, working mainly on the following topics: inflammation, biomarkers of prognosis and evolution, chronic liver diseases, fatty liver disease associated with metabolic dysfunction, metabolic diseases and obesity.
Adriana Leandro Santoro

Graduated in Chemistry from UNESP (2004), MSc. in Analytical/Physicochemical from USP (2007), and Ph.D. in Oncology at Hospital A C Camargo Cancer Center (2017). 10 years experience as a Product Specialist / Application Chemistry and is currently a postdoctoral fellow in metabolomics at the Institute of Biology at UNICAMP, where uses analytical (Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) and computational tools in an attempt to identify metabolites that play relevant biological functions in the context of metabolic diseases and aging.
Henver Simionato Brunetta
postdoctoral student
Henver Brunetta completed his Ph.D. degree at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil) under the supervision of Dr. Everson Nunes. During his doctoral training, he worked at the University of Guelph (Canada), under the supervision of Dr. Graham Holloway and at the University of Paris-Sud (France) under the supervision of Dr. Mathias Mericskay. Currently, he is a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Campinas (Unicamp) under the supervision of Dr. Marcelo Mori. His interests involve mitochondrial bioenergetics and redox balance in several contexts, such as insulin resistance, obesity, exercise, and nutrition.
Niedson C. de Lima Junior
PhD student
Graduated in Nutrition from Universidade Veiga de Almeida (2014). Completed a scientific initiation internship in the integral use of food project (2012). He has a specialization in human performance sciences from the school of physical education and sports (EEFD), UFRJ (2015). Master of Science from the Endocrinology Graduate Program, Faculty of Medicine (FM), Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2017). Currently a PhD candidate in physiology (2018) in the postgraduate program of biological sciences (Physiology) at the Carlos Chagas Filho Institute of Biophysics and specialization in clinical nutrition (CENC) at the Josué de Castro Nutrition Institute (INJC).
Letícia de Souza Figueiredo

Graduated in Pharmacy with a specialization in Clinical Analysis, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2019). Master's Degree in Science from the Postgraduate Program in Bioactive Products and Biosciences at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2021). During the undergraduate and master's degree she researched at the Pathophysiology Laboratory at UFRJ, focusing on the area of Endocrine Physiology, mainly on the changes induced by endocrine disruptors under insulin metabolism and the development of non-communicable chronic diseases such as obesity and non-fatty liver disease -alcoholic. She is currently a doctoral student in the Postgraduate Program in Functional and Molecular Biology at the State University of Campinas (2021), and she conducts her research at the Laboratory of Biology of Aging. Her research focuses on elucidating possible mechanisms, molecules, and actions against the aging of the immune system (immunosenescence).
Raissa Guimarães Ludwig

Graduated in nutrition from the University of São Paulo - USP. Scientific initiation at the Federal University of São Paulo - UNIFESP. She has a master's degree and is currently a PhD student at the State University of Campinas - UNICAMP, working with energy metabolism in adipose tissue and aging. She has experience in histology, microbiology and molecular biology techniques.
Thiago Leite Knitell
PhD student
He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences - Medical Modality from the Federal University of São Paulo (2016). He is a PhD student in the Genetics and Molecular Biology program at the Institute of Biology at UNICAMP. He works with the organism C. elegans looking for proteins that influence aging by acting on a different tissue from where they were produced. The search is focused on genes that are conserved in humans and is aimed at developing drugs that lead to a healthier aging. Also in C. elegans, he studies how the health of the mothers can affect their children and later generations.
Carlos AV Junior

Graduated in Biomedical Sciences at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) in 2018. Currently, he is a PhD student in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the University of Campinas (Unicamp). He investigates alterations in the miRNA processing pathway that promote resistance to pro-oxidant agents, and how it interferes with C. elegans healthspan.
Raissa Guimarães Ludwig
PhD student
Graduated in Biotechnology at the University of Uberlândia in 2018 and pursuing a PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the University of Campinas, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Marcelo A. S. Mori. She develops a project in the field of Aging Biology, looking for candidates for dietary restriction mimetics and new genes / molecular pathways involved using the model organism C. elegans. Her previous projects were in the areas of breast tumor and cardiovascular disease.
Thiago Leite Knitell
PhD student
Graduated in Biological Sciences in 2019 and acquired a Master's degree in 2021 in the State University of São Paulo, Botucatu (UNESP) Genetics program, advised by Professor Robson Francisco Carvalho. Specialized in biomarker search through bioinformatic analysis of the transcriptome in the context of aging and cancer cachexia. Currently advised by Professor Marcelo Alves Mori, searching for adipocyte hypertrophy biomarkers through Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology.
Gabriel Palermo Ruiz

Received his bachelor degree in Biomedical Sciences from Federal University of São Paulo, BrazilHe is currently a Ph.D. student in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the State University of Campinas, Brazil, where he investigates the role of adipose tissue-derived miRNAs in mice energy metabolism, in addition to other topics of interest, such as extracellular vesicles and miRNAs, physical exercise and dietary interventions, and intertissue communication
Silas Pinto da Silva

Doctoral student in Genetics and Molecular Biology, graduated in Biomedical Sciences from the Federal University of São Paulo. Works with metabolism and aging genetics. He is currently studying changes in the miRNA processing pathway during aging and the responses of this pathway to caloric restriction and its mimetics, in addition to trying to understand the role of mitochondria in the miRNA pathway. Additionally, it searches, through bioinformatics tools, new sncRNAs related to the regulation of life expectancy in C. elegans nematodes.

Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences from Federal University of São Paulo (2016). Master's degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology from State University of Campinas - UNICAMP (2020). Currently a PhD candidate at State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in the Genetics and Molecular Biology Program. Has experience in genetics of ageing and molecular biology, working on the following subjects: ageing, NAD+, Dicer, C. elegans.
Raul Gobato da Costa

Develops research in the areas of physical exercise, frailty, biology of aging and regenerative medicine.

Graduated from the Superior Interdisciplinary Training Program (ProFIS) at the State University of Campinas in December 2016 and currently studying Biological Sciences at the State University of Campinas. Experience in laboratory management and research, handling laboratory materials, cell cultures, preparation and reading of slides in optical microscopy, preparation of solutions, molecular biology techniques (bone marrow extraction protocols, DNA and PCR), antigen detection, among other techniques. Responsible for managing digital media and scientific divulgation by the Department of Biochemistry and Tissue Biology at Unicamp.
Undergraduate student in Pharmacy and SAE/Unicamp scholarship. Develops activities to support the laboratory routine.
